Is EnviousWispr Free?
Yes. What is included, and the one thing that can cost money.
EnviousWispr is a free dictation app for macOS, and free means all of it. There is no subscription, no trial period, and no account to create.
What you get
Every installation includes the complete feature set, with no hidden tiers and no paywalls.
- Speech engines. Both speech engines, and every language they cover.
- AI polish. AI Polish, including the options that run entirely on your Mac.
- Recording modes. Every recording mode, and keybinds you can set to anything.
- Custom vocabulary. Your own dictionary of custom words, plus ready-made vocabulary packs.
- History with no ceiling. Unlimited dictation, and a History with no limit on how much it keeps.
The one thing that can cost money
If you choose OpenAI, Gemini, or Claude for AI Polish, you bring your own API key and pay that company for what you use. EnviousWispr charges nothing either way.
You never have to go that route. Apple Intelligence, EG-1, and Ollama models you download to your Mac all polish for free. Ollama also has hosted models that run on its own servers, and some of those need a paid Ollama plan.
Why it is free
The goal is to put EnviousWispr into as many hands as possible. The app is also open source under the GPLv3 license, so you can read the code, build it yourself, and keep using it whatever Envious Labs does later.
