Toggle Mode

In Toggle mode you press your recording keybind once to start recording and press it again to stop. You do not hold the key while you talk.

Switch to Toggle mode

1. Click the EnviousWispr icon in your menu bar and choose Open EnviousWispr.
2. Open Keybinds.
3. In the Recording mode row, pick Toggle.

The option you pick is highlighted. It worked when a single press starts recording instead of needing a constant hold. Your recording keybind stays the same in both modes.

Dictate in Toggle mode

1. Press your keybind. Click into any text box and press your keybind once. Recording starts and the recording bar appears on your screen.
2. Speak. Dictate at your normal pace.
3. Press the keybind again. The recording stops and the text appears at your cursor.

Toggle or Push to Talk: which should I use?

Choose Toggle if you would rather not hold a key while you talk, or if you know in advance when you want to stop. Push to Talk is the default: you hold the key, talk, and let go. See Push-to-Talk Mode.

Cancel a recording in Toggle mode

Press Escape, your cancel keybind by default, to end a recording without pasting anything. By default EnviousWispr keeps what you said and offers it back, which is Escape Recovery.

To discard a recording for good, click Cancel in the main EnviousWispr window, next to Stop. The floating recording bar has no Cancel button. Canceling a Recording covers both.

Does the double-press lock work in Toggle mode?

No. The double-press lock belongs to Push to Talk, where it keeps recording on after you let go. Toggle mode has nothing to lock, because your finger is already off the key after the first press.
