Sounds and Appearance

Light and dark mode, where the recording bar sits, and recording sounds.

Three settings change how EnviousWispr looks and sounds while you use it. None of them affects what you dictate or how accurately it is transcribed.

Light or dark

EnviousWispr follows your macOS appearance setting by default, and you can override that if you prefer. Go to Settings, then select Appearance. Choose either Light or Dark to fix the theme regardless of what your system is set to.

Where the recording bar appears

The recording bar shows you when EnviousWispr is listening, and you can put it wherever suits your screen. Go to Settings, then select Appearance. Use Recording Indicator Position to place the bar at either the top or the bottom of your screen.

You can also move the bar during a dictation.

Drag the bar. Click and drag the recording bar to any position on your screen while it is visible. That placement lasts for the current dictation only, and the next one returns to the position you chose in Settings.

Recording sounds

A short sound confirms when EnviousWispr starts and stops listening, which helps if you dictate without looking at the screen or you are unsure whether it registered your keybind. Go to Settings, then select Sounds, and switch on Play recording sounds. This setting is off by default.

Preview a sound. Select any of the sound pairings on the Sounds page and click the preview button to hear each one before you settle on it.
